Awana is a non-denominational kids’ club for ages 3 through high school.

Each group has their own uniform and their own awards that the kids earn throughout the club year for Bible memory, attendance, projects, and various other activities.

Our night is broken up into 3 different segments: Handbook time, Game time, and Council Time. During Handbook time, kids recite Bible verses to their leaders that they have memorized at home during the week, or turn in projects from their books. During Game time, the official Awana circle is used for many different types of athletic games. During Council time, the kids listen to stories and lessons about the Bible.

Cubbies is for 3, 4 and 5 year olds.  (Potty-trained children only, please!) Our Cubbies meet in their own room for the majority of the night, with separate non-competitive games.  Each night they have a puppet show, Bible story, a Bible memory verse, games, crafts, and a snack.

Sparks is for children in Kindergarten through 2nd grade.  Sparks starts with handbook time where they have the opportunity to meet with their leaders to recite Bible verses they have memorized at home during the week or show them the projects they have completed.  After handbook time, the Sparks go to game time, where they learn and play games on the Awana games circle.  Our Sparks end the night with “council time” where they hear Bible stories and get their awards.

Truth & Training (T&T) is for children in 3rd through 6th grades.  Our T&T boys and girls meet in two separate groups.   We have mystery night every month during the year for the T&T clubs as well as contests to earn a pizza party or a bowling party.

Trek is for 6th, 7th and 8th graders.

Journey is Awana’s program for children in 9th through 12th grades.  We do not have a Journey group that meets on Wednesday nights, but many of our 9th through 12th graders help with the younger clubs on Wednesdays.   Any high schooler wanting to work in an Awana book is free to recite verses to a leader before or after Awana meets on Wednesday, or in church on Sunday.

SPECIAL EVENTS

We host the Awana Grand Prix in February or March. Children who would like to participate can purchase a car kit, which contains a pine block of wood, four wheels and axles, about six weeks before the race so they can design their own cars which we race on race night. We give trophies for both design and speed.  Parents, grandparents, friends, and family are welcome to come watch the race!  Awana Grand Prix is open to Awana clubbers, Awana leaders, Youth Group, and sometimes other members of the community in an open class.  Please contact us if you are interested.

at The Youth Center of WEFC.

Sparks and T&T participate in AwanaGames in March or April. We meet near Sioux Falls, South Dakota and play on the Awana circle the games we have been playing throughout the club year. We play other Awana clubs from other churches from both South Dakota and Minnesota.  Parents, grandparents, friends, and family are welcome to come watch the games! (Sorry, 6th graders who attend Middle School Youth Group are ineligible to participate.)

Awards Night is held each year at the Windom Evangelical Free Church on the Sunday following the last night of club. At Awards Night, we present each clubber with their awards they earned for finishing books or major projects throughout the year. This is an excellent opportunity for parents to see what their children have accomplished throughout the year.

MORE INFORMATION

We give each of the parents a Parents’ Guide to answer any questions they may have about our club.  If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact Kristie Dalton @ 507-822-2556.

We ask that all clubbers who participate in Awana bring 50¢ dues each week.  This is not mandatory, but is greatly appreciated as it helps us cover the costs of awards for all clubbers and scholarships for children who cannot afford books & uniforms.

Keep an eye on our church calendar for special Awana events throughout the year!
